Key Features of the 3Watt Star Bright White LED

I purchased some of these to make a custom replacement light bulb for a project of mine. I forgot that I used one with out a driver circuit when I applied the proper system voltage 12VDC regulated to 5VDC. I had been using a 5VDC source with % volt regulator i.e. 3.5 volt. The LED's with drivers kept working. The one without popped and shorted out. These are great LED's. They work very well for most applications. The design could be better, pop-rivets must be used WITH CAUTION. I suggest insulating your pop-rivets with a bit of heat shrink BEFORE popping.
