Description 

This is a high temperature (up to 105'C) food graded mini submersible water pump. The shaft is coated with a layer of ZrO2 (zirconium oxide ) to withstand higher temperature and have better tolerance for acid and alkaline. It's built by a brushless motor to provide a smoother and quieter operation than a brush water pump. Also,it will not generate an 'electric spark' like what a brush type does, so it's safer. It can be used to pump oil as well (no gasoline*).

pump for DIY sous vide
Do NOT use this for a DIY Sous Vide unit.  The more I think about this the madder I get.  I built a sous vide unit several years ago, based on this pump. The DIY instructions state:”High Temperature 1L/min mini DC Water Pump from LightObject.com. … and its also rated to 100°C.  No pump failure due to high temperatures”
For a long time, the add at this site said it was ‘great for sous vide’, although it no longer makes that statement.
The pump is the week link. My pumps last from 4 to 6 months. The operating temperature of a sous vide unit is often above 122° F, which is above the ’submersed’ ambient temperature. I don’t know when the specifications changed, but they changed.  This pump is NOT self priming, so, given the configuration of the unit, getting this pump to a ‘non-submersed’ but ‘prim-able’ condition is difficult if not impossible.

Reply: The pump can support up to 100'C (212'F) fluid without causing damage of the pump. The condition is that you can't submerse the pump in the hot liquid but must install 'in-line'. It is not self-priming that's why you need to install the pump at bottom of the container. We been selling this pump years and years and helped a lot folks for the SouV building.  If you don't want to spend $400 ~ $700 for a commercial then DIY is the best way to save money. Of course you need to invest time and effort. Nothing is easy or free
